Columbus Expungement Attorney

You May Be Eligible To Have The Conviction On Your Record Removed

Ohio has recently changed its expungement laws to make it easier for people with convictions on their records to have them permanently removed. The requirements are very specific and you need the assistance of a lawyer to go through the process; however, it can make your life a lot easier if you are successful.

At Heagerty & Associates, we understand the impact a criminal record can have on you. Patrick J. Heagerty is a former public defender and has been in practice for more than 10 years. He practices at the local, state and federal levels and has the knowledge and experience to get your record expunged if you meet the correct criteria.

A Change In The Laws

Prior laws allowed that you could only have one conviction on your record to be eligible for expungement and that conviction could only be for certain crimes. Recently, the Ohio legislature has made changes that allow a person who has two misdemeanors or one felony charge on his or her record to be eligible to have those charges removed, and they have updated the list of crimes that can be expunged.

Regardless of the crime committed, you must have completed your sentence and waited one year prior to applying for expungement. Certain crimes are not eligible for expungement, such as murder and other crimes of violence. Our attorney will review your case and tell you if you are eligible. If so, he will guide you through the process and help you get your record cleared so all of your rights are returned to you.
